It’s finally happened. The Bedrock and Java editions of Minecraft will be packaged and sold together on PC from today. Don’t worry if you own one edition and not the other though: Mojang have confirmed that players will receive access to whatever edition they don’t own in the coming days, free of charge. Both editions can be accessed from the Minecraft launcher. They’ll retain their respective features and stay separate from one another.
Mojang first announced their plans to sell Minecrafts Bedrock and Java editions together at the end of last year. At the time, they said it would happen at some point in 2022, although now we’re here, I don’t feel any different, do you? The joint package of Bedrock and Java will be the only way to buy Minecraft on PC from now on, but you can always ignore one of them if you really prefer the other.
Minecraft’s 1.19 update, The Wild, is also out today. This brings some new biomes in the form of the creepy Deep Dark and distinctly more pleasant Mangrove Swamps. It’s introducing the new frog and tadpole mobs, with three types of frogs to encounter that Mojang say will produce their own version of the froglight block if you feed them slimes. Watch out for the Warden mobs if you venture into the Deep Dark – they deal the highest non-explosive damage of any mob in the game.

Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition for PC is the same Minecraft you already know and love, only this time, one purchase includes both
and Minecraft Bedrock. Each game version will remain separately accessible as they were before, you’ll now just have access to both.
Minecraft… And Its Many Versions… Explained!
Considering that theyre different games on a formatting level, theres no real way that Mojang could combine them without something or the other breaking apart. But this way, the studio can ensure that loyal players get to experience every facet of Minecraft without having to play double the price. In their own words, “We tried that and now part of our office is in a time warp.”
For a while now, Minecraft players would have to choose between the Java and Bedrock editions of the game, depending on their needs. While they were essentially the same, there was a difference in formatting, depending on which third party apps or mods could be integrated. They were two separate games which youd have to pay for separately too. However, Mojangs latest announcement has changed that.
As of tomorrow, the two versions will combine into the Minecraft Java & Bedrock Edition. This edition will incorporate both versions under a single title. Existing customers will see their version get updated to include the other version.
“To be clear, Java and Bedrock will remain separate games with their own distinctive features,” explained Mojang. The only difference is that now you get both by default when buying Minecraft for your Windows PC, and access them both from the same launcher. Ridiculously indecisive Windows gamers, rejoice! You now have one less choice to make.”
Players will now have access to both editions, although they will still be different games. The difference will be that you wont have to pay twice to own both of them.
This is good news for those of use only in ownership of one version of Minecraft on PC; whichever version you’re lacking, you’ll get access to for free.
Are you pleased to see Mojang and Microsoft finally put both versions of Minecraft into a bundle? Its just in time for Minecrafts new update, The Wild, which also releases on June 7.

Most, if not all of us, will have some sort of preference when it comes to Minecraft editions. Which one reigns superior? Java or Bedrock? I’d argue Java, but the edition wars may soon be over, as Minecraft Java and Bedrock editions are no longer available to purchase separately on PC. Minecraft is undoubtedly one of the best survival games out there, and it continues to receive new content and updates to this do without overwhelming its player base. Mojang’s masterpiece first arrived on PC in 2011, with the Bedrock edition of the game coming later in 2017. Now, as of June 7, 2022, the editions will be merged.
