An Operator (OP) is someone who has access to commands that are used in managing the server. Among the commands that an operator has access to are changing a players game mode, updating server difficulty, giving items, kicking and banning players, whitelisting, and even stopping and restarting a server. You can view a list of operator commands here: https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Commands#List_of_commands
The first two options are preferred as theyre simpler and wont cause issues if executed incorrectly.
- Log into the Gamepanel for your server.
- Click “Web Console”
- At the bottom there is the input bar (a bar which you can type in, to input commands to the server) Type /op username (replacing username with the player’s in-game username).

Giving OP In-Game
Opping a player in-game is more convenient, but requires you to already be opped. If you are not a server operator, you will need to op yourself through the console first.
/op
in-game, replacing
with the Minecraft player you intend to op.Giving OP through the Server Console
Making a player an operator through your servers control panel is simple, requiring only a single command. This is the fastest method of opping players if your server doesnt have any operators yet.
op
. Replace
with the Minecraft username you want to OP.op "Minecraft Fan123"
You can assign OP players by either use of NodePanel, Console Commands, or even ingame commands (by other already op-ed players)
Firstly, ensure youre on the control panel for your Minecraft server. Under the Players
page, you will find an OPs
tab. Any players added to this list will automatically be op-ed by our system. You may need to restart your server after changing players.
Since the 1.7.10 snapshot release (13w19a), Operator Permission Levels were introduced into Minecraft, to give server administrators much more granular control over operator permissions. Each permission level is assigned various commands, and inherit all commands from the previous level. For example, a level 3 operator also has access to the commands from both level 2, and level 1. The highest possible operator permission level, is 4.
Like most games, Minecraft provides a built in mechanism to set authorized players as administrators of the server. Mojang, the game developer, has chosen the term OP (operator).
